I had a wonderful time at my weekly coffee gathering today. There was a WWII Veteran there who is 98 years old. I had already interviewed him for my upcoming book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.

The interview is full of near death experiences, and the freeing of two concentration camps. One was full of Jews, and the other English soldiers.

It is a fantastic interview that is a must read when the book comes out.

I will keep you posted here as to the progress of the book. You can also go to www.dougbolton.com. That is now just a military site that has up to date military news, and side stories.

I have been having pity parties lately. My health is not all that good. I am struggling with weak legs, arthritis in my hip, and total lack of energy.

How do I face each day?

  1. I thank God for the day. He is the one that gives me my air in my lungs every day.
  2. I realize that getting old isn’t for sissies, and face my storms head on.
  3. I read the Bible. All the comfort I need is found there.
  4. I do not worry about tomorrow. Jesus says, tomorrow has enough worries on its own.

You are never forsaken.

On my last post I talked about prayer.

The future doesn’t look too exciting right now. Wars, Border crisis, inflation skyrocketing, Gas prices soaring. This is enough to makes us want to go hide in a cave.

Living for the moment is getting harder each day. The future doesn’t look all that good.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

So, let’s concentrate on prayer. Pray can change the world. We need to spend daily moments in prayer. We need to learn how to pray, to pray how to learn. When we pray we are at our best.

Here is my thoughts on planning to pray:

  1. Have a prayer plan.
  2. Have a special place to pray.
  3. Schedule your prayer time for every day.
  4. Even have a prayer partner.

______________________________________________________________________________________

This looks like a very simple guide, but it is powerful. If you follow it daily, I guarantee you it will change you life.

God is listening. He hears your prayer. He loves to talk with you. Reach out to Him daily. Your life will be much better.

______________________________________________________________________________________

Remember:

You are never alone,

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

I have been on a rollercoaster ride. I’m at the age when many physical things happen. They are painful. They are not life threatening at this point. However, the constant pain and suffering is not acceptable.

______________________________________________________________________________________

Now that I have been whining and trying to have a pity party, let’s move n in life.

______________________________________________________________________________________

Lie is not for sissies. There are trials everyday. We need to be patient, and strong. There are ways to overcome the darkside, and it all begins with turning to God.

God knows every hair on our head. He knows what we are going through. He wants the best for us. All we have to do is ask.

Prayer is a very powerful thing. I have seen it change lives many times.

  1. I had a grand nephew somehow live after the doctors said there is no chance he would make it. Even the doctors considered a miracle. He is now 15 years old and going strong.
  2. I had a friend in stage four lung cancer, and she is still live today, several years later.
  3. A friend lost her husband suddenly, and her only way to manage was to turn her live over to God. She is thriving now.

_________________________________________________________________________________

I could go on with many other answered prayers. They are never ending in my life.

Test it yourself. If you are overwhelmed with trials, Turn to God a pray for His intervention. He is listening.

You are never alone,

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

It has been awhile since I posted. been struggling with the flu, hip pain and weakness. I am trying to get back to the routine of talking with you.

______________________________________________________________________________________

It can be very disheartening to have so many trials in ones life. It seems to be a regular thing for some of us. I am an optimist, so I have some thoughts on the grim outlook of life:

  1. Storms come, but storms go.
  2. Never give up.
  3. Always fight back against the darkside.
  4. The past is gone, live for today, because tomorrow is another day.
  5. Reach out to others who are struggling. It helps them AND you.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

The new year is upon us. We need to look forward to a bright year full of hope. It only can happen when you believe that. Start out the new year with hope and courage.

Also know that God is with you. He knows your hurts. He knows your needs. pray to Him for your protection and love.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I know that this site is called, Signs of Hope, but I am going to rant for a little bit:

  1. President Biden say that inflation is going down. Well it is still 40% higher than normal.
  2. President Biden is allowing thousands upon thousands of illegal immigrants to cross our southern border.
  3. Food prices has skyrocketed.
  4. Heating bills are out of control.
  5. Biden will not let us do our own oil drilling, so the gas prices are incredible.

________________________________________________________________________________________

I have other rants, but I think that is enough for now.

Millions of people are fighting depression, anxiety, and have a pessimistic look on life. That is not good for our country.

What can we do to survive this delima?

  1. Take it one day at a time, and be strong.
  2. Be careful of what you buy.
  3. Hunker down for the next two years.
  4. Storms come, but they go away.
  5. Never let the darkside dictate to you what your life is like.
  6. Above all…never, ever give up!

________________________________________________________________________________________

We also need to remember that God is with us 24/7. He knows our problems, and will protect us during the storms of life.

You are never alone,

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

December Has The Shortest Light of the Year, But then it’s January.

Still struggling. the physical therapy I did on Wednesday threw me for a loop. Very sore muscles the next day. Yesterday, I tried to walk on a tread mill, and I could do 10 minutes. I was very disappointed, but then I realized that I did 10 minutes, which is better than zero.

____________________________________________________________________________________

You have to think of things in a positive was.

  1. Instead of we lost, what did you learn from the experience?
  2. It is better to have loved and lost than to never have been loved at all.
  3. December 21st will be the shortest, darkest, light of the year, but on the 22nd it starts getting lighter longer.
  4. If you ever fail, wake up and try again.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

I am sure you can add to the list. Do that today.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Have you had some dark days like it during December? Fear not! There is hope at the end of the tunnel. Just keep going, and things will change. Storms come, but they go away.

By the way…God is with you every step you take. He will guide through the rough paths you have to walk. He will never cause you to face something you can’t handle.

We all have faced hectic times. Everything seems to be pulling us down like a huge magnet. How can we avoid this?

  1. Live differently. We spend too much time trying to mold into what everyone else is doing. It is called the rat race.
  2. Recognize your status as a Christian in the world.
    • Abstain from powerful passions.
    • Display God’s glory by the way you live.
  3. We need to live like an alien on this earth. This is not our home.
  4. Live submissively.
  5. Live feely.

Followers of God see freedom, not as an opportunity to do as we please, but to serve as God wills.

Ask God for wisdom as to how to choose the right thing to do.

We want to avoid suffering, but it happens. We want to make sure the suffering is not because of sin.

We need to submit to God to help us with our suffering and pain. What do we need to do to be submissive?

  1. Feelings.
  2. Desires.
  3. Trust.

______________________________________________________________________________________

Jesus submitted to the Father. He went through terrible pain and suffering. Because He did, Jesus is our substitute for pain and suffering.

I was thinking about my TV remote the other day. What Power!! I can get rid of channels I don’t like and turn to the ones I do like. However, we must remember that God is our remote of life. We are not our own remote for life. God pushes the buttons, not us.

______________________________________________________________________________________

Some thoughts:

  1. Do not return evil with evil.
  2. Overcome evil with God.
  3. Entrust yourself to God.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

I have been thinking of my two sons, and son-in-law lately. We spent a weekend at my son’s house in Roseburg, Oregon. It was not a fishing trip like we usually plan, but a just sit around watching college football and enjoying each other.

It reminded me of what a most important thing it is to be a father. It brought up some thoughts in my head:

  1. Parents should make it easy for their children to obey.
  2. We shouldn’t frustrate our children.
  3. Don’t do something to make them angry.
  4. We frustrate our children when we are harsh and unreasonable.
  5. We need to guide rather than block our children.
  6. The power you have over your children is for their development, not for your convenience.
  7. Sometimes parenting brings you almost to your end.

__________________________________________________________________________________

I know, “Easy for you to say!” However, if you truly love your children you can make this happen.

Realize that you can mold their future, and not push them into the muck and mire.
