I had a wonderful time at my weekly coffee gathering today. There was a WWII Veteran there who is 98 years old. I had already interviewed him for my upcoming book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.

The interview is full of near death experiences, and the freeing of two concentration camps. One was full of Jews, and the other English soldiers.

It is a fantastic interview that is a must read when the book comes out.

I will keep you posted here as to the progress of the book. You can also go to www.dougbolton.com. That is now just a military site that has up to date military news, and side stories.

I have been having pity parties lately. My health is not all that good. I am struggling with weak legs, arthritis in my hip, and total lack of energy.

How do I face each day?

  1. I thank God for the day. He is the one that gives me my air in my lungs every day.
  2. I realize that getting old isn’t for sissies, and face my storms head on.
  3. I read the Bible. All the comfort I need is found there.
  4. I do not worry about tomorrow. Jesus says, tomorrow has enough worries on its own.

Remember:

You are never alone,

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

Finally found out what was happening with my hip. Ex-rays shows that I have arthritis. I trying to decide if that is a bad thing or a good thing. I was told I may need surgery for a bad hip.

I have meds to help with the pain, so I guess I will be Ok.

______________________________________________________________________________________

Where does it say we need to agree to all the mess we are going through? I am tired of the excuses our government is giving us for the high inflation, disaster at the southern border, high crimes rates, etc.

They are trying to tell me that it is OK to pay $50.00 to fill my car up with gas. It is not oK!

______________________________________________________________________________________

I have solutions to almost everything above, but I am sure it would fall on deaf ears.

So what do we do to survive in this not so friendly world?

______________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Take one day at a time. Jesus said, “Do not worry about tomorrow it has enough worries on it own.”
  2. Read the Bible every day! It has all the comfort and truth you need.
  3. Face the storms of life head on. After all with God on your side, who can be against you?
  4. Help others who are struggling. It helps them and you too.
  5. Pray for God’s protection.

Remember:

You are never alone,

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

On my last post I talked about prayer.

The future doesn’t look too exciting right now. Wars, Border crisis, inflation skyrocketing, Gas prices soaring. This is enough to makes us want to go hide in a cave.

Living for the moment is getting harder each day. The future doesn’t look all that good.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

So, let’s concentrate on prayer. Pray can change the world. We need to spend daily moments in prayer. We need to learn how to pray, to pray how to learn. When we pray we are at our best.

Here is my thoughts on planning to pray:

  1. Have a prayer plan.
  2. Have a special place to pray.
  3. Schedule your prayer time for every day.
  4. Even have a prayer partner.

______________________________________________________________________________________

This looks like a very simple guide, but it is powerful. If you follow it daily, I guarantee you it will change you life.

God is listening. He hears your prayer. He loves to talk with you. Reach out to Him daily. Your life will be much better.

______________________________________________________________________________________

Remember:

You are never alone,

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

I have been on a rollercoaster ride. I’m at the age when many physical things happen. They are painful. They are not life threatening at this point. However, the constant pain and suffering is not acceptable.

______________________________________________________________________________________

Now that I have been whining and trying to have a pity party, let’s move n in life.

______________________________________________________________________________________

Lie is not for sissies. There are trials everyday. We need to be patient, and strong. There are ways to overcome the darkside, and it all begins with turning to God.

God knows every hair on our head. He knows what we are going through. He wants the best for us. All we have to do is ask.

Prayer is a very powerful thing. I have seen it change lives many times.

  1. I had a grand nephew somehow live after the doctors said there is no chance he would make it. Even the doctors considered a miracle. He is now 15 years old and going strong.
  2. I had a friend in stage four lung cancer, and she is still live today, several years later.
  3. A friend lost her husband suddenly, and her only way to manage was to turn her live over to God. She is thriving now.

_________________________________________________________________________________

I could go on with many other answered prayers. They are never ending in my life.

Test it yourself. If you are overwhelmed with trials, Turn to God a pray for His intervention. He is listening.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

It has been awhile since I posted. been struggling with the flu, hip pain and weakness. I am trying to get back to the routine of talking with you.

______________________________________________________________________________________

It can be very disheartening to have so many trials in ones life. It seems to be a regular thing for some of us. I am an optimist, so I have some thoughts on the grim outlook of life:

  1. Storms come, but storms go.
  2. Never give up.
  3. Always fight back against the darkside.
  4. The past is gone, live for today, because tomorrow is another day.
  5. Reach out to others who are struggling. It helps them AND you.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

The new year is upon us. We need to look forward to a bright year full of hope. It only can happen when you believe that. Start out the new year with hope and courage.

Also know that God is with you. He knows your hurts. He knows your needs. pray to Him for your protection and love.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

It has been seven days since I last posted. I came down with the flu last Friday, and have been fighting to get back to normal since. I am feeling much better today, but still very weak.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

We all face trials and setbacks. Things happen that we cannot control. It seems like a “poor me,” attitude should be appropriate.

However, I have decided that there is the good side of everything:

  1. During my flu time, I was able to get lot of rest that I didn’t have time for before. It actually made me stronger.
  2. Back in 2004 I was told I needed open heart surgery or die. I was not sure if I could do that. The doctor convinced me that only had days left if I didn’t do the surgery. I had the surgery, and that was 18 years ago and I am still standing.
  3. I later got a spinal infection in my spin. It was spreading fast. After a misdiagnosis, a doctor saw what was happening and treated me differently than what they suggested. It was the right choice. It took me several months, but I slowly got back to “normal,” again
  4. I have had severe problems with strength in my legs. I couldn’t stand up very long. I was staggering around. I needed a cane, and maybe even a walker. I have started physical therapy, and I am confident that I will be strong again.

___________________________________________________________________________________

Have you faced walls and dead ends? Are you being picked on? You certainly are not alone. Try finding the bright side of everything. It really helps you to face the dark days.

Never let dark clouds block your view of the wonderful world. Face the storms with confidence that God is there with you, guiding you.

Have a very merry Christmas, and remember what Christmas really is-The birth of Christ.

I will putting on a rant and some anger today. I am getting very sick of the way our country is going.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

Just yesterday, and teacher at a private school went public and proudly said he is sharing sex toys, and ideas on how to do some sexual things to his high school students. He thought he was great for doing it. REALLY??? I would be furious if was a parent of one of those students. Introducing to anything like this is up to the parents, not some creep in the schools.

President Biden tapped a fund that was to be used for something important to bale out unions, It was over 3 billion dollars. I was a union man, but this is going way too far.

____________________________________________________________________________________

President Biden was in Arizona recently, and was 100 miles from the southern border. He did not go to see what was happening there. He said there was more important things to do. I can not believe that!!!

____________________________________________________________________________________

The new Twitter owner, Musk has come out with shocking proof that Twitter was purposely eliminating all tweets that gave negatives views of any democratic people running for office. It did many other things to disrupt the election of 2018. It also hide all reverences to Hunter Biden’s laptop. That is criminal.

___________________________________________________________________________________

Ok…I am done with the ranting. I am sorry for this, but it has been building up in me for years.

____________________________________________________________________________________

We need to think of positive ways to make it through our days. It is hard, at best, to do os. here are some of my thoughts on that:

  1. Forget the past, live the present, and look forward to the future.
  2. Do not believe much that you see on the national TV networks.
  3. Stop watching news that sounds very fishy.
  4. Concentrate on pleasing God, and not people.
  5. Love your family and keep close to them.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Never let the darkside pull you down like a huge magnate. Keep thinking positively. Rely on God to guide you through the muck and mire of this earth.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Remember:

You are never alone,

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

December Has The Shortest Light of the Year, But then it’s January.

Still struggling. the physical therapy I did on Wednesday threw me for a loop. Very sore muscles the next day. Yesterday, I tried to walk on a tread mill, and I could do 10 minutes. I was very disappointed, but then I realized that I did 10 minutes, which is better than zero.

____________________________________________________________________________________

You have to think of things in a positive was.

  1. Instead of we lost, what did you learn from the experience?
  2. It is better to have loved and lost than to never have been loved at all.
  3. December 21st will be the shortest, darkest, light of the year, but on the 22nd it starts getting lighter longer.
  4. If you ever fail, wake up and try again.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

I am sure you can add to the list. Do that today.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Have you had some dark days like it during December? Fear not! There is hope at the end of the tunnel. Just keep going, and things will change. Storms come, but they go away.

By the way…God is with you every step you take. He will guide through the rough paths you have to walk. He will never cause you to face something you can’t handle.

You are never forsaken,

I have been thinking of my two sons, and son-in-law lately. We spent a weekend at my son’s house in Roseburg, Oregon. It was not a fishing trip like we usually plan, but a just sit around watching college football and enjoying each other.

It reminded me of what a most important thing it is to be a father. It brought up some thoughts in my head:

  1. Parents should make it easy for their children to obey.
  2. We shouldn’t frustrate our children.
  3. Don’t do something to make them angry.
  4. We frustrate our children when we are harsh and unreasonable.
  5. We need to guide rather than block our children.
  6. The power you have over your children is for their development, not for your convenience.
  7. Sometimes parenting brings you almost to your end.

__________________________________________________________________________________

I know, “Easy for you to say!” However, if you truly love your children you can make this happen.

Realize that you can mold their future, and not push them into the muck and mire.
