Here is what I envision for the future:

  1. Current news…right off of the headlines,
  2. Daily thoughts…this is where I can gripe and complain.
  3. Important thoughts…This will be thoughts I have written down that I think you will like.
  4. Speaking about God…this will be an ongoing thing.

This will be a short post today, because I am organizing what I want to post first for my next post on Wednesday.

I had a wonderful time at my weekly coffee gathering today. There was a WWII Veteran there who is 98 years old. I had already interviewed him for my upcoming book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.

The interview is full of near death experiences, and the freeing of two concentration camps. One was full of Jews, and the other English soldiers.

It is a fantastic interview that is a must read when the book comes out.

I will keep you posted here as to the progress of the book. You can also go to www.dougbolton.com. That is now just a military site that has up to date military news, and side stories.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

I have been having pity parties lately. My health is not all that good. I am struggling with weak legs, arthritis in my hip, and total lack of energy.

How do I face each day?

  1. I thank God for the day. He is the one that gives me my air in my lungs every day.
  2. I realize that getting old isn’t for sissies, and face my storms head on.
  3. I read the Bible. All the comfort I need is found there.
  4. I do not worry about tomorrow. Jesus says, tomorrow has enough worries on its own.

You are never alone,

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

It has been awhile since I posted. been struggling with the flu, hip pain and weakness. I am trying to get back to the routine of talking with you.

______________________________________________________________________________________

It can be very disheartening to have so many trials in ones life. It seems to be a regular thing for some of us. I am an optimist, so I have some thoughts on the grim outlook of life:

  1. Storms come, but storms go.
  2. Never give up.
  3. Always fight back against the darkside.
  4. The past is gone, live for today, because tomorrow is another day.
  5. Reach out to others who are struggling. It helps them AND you.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

The new year is upon us. We need to look forward to a bright year full of hope. It only can happen when you believe that. Start out the new year with hope and courage.

Also know that God is with you. He knows your hurts. He knows your needs. pray to Him for your protection and love.

________________________________________________________________________________________

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

This old warrior,(Ex military)is feeling his age. It is getting harder to walk. Need a cane now, and considering a walker. Don’t feel sorry for me. I love life, and cherish every minute of it.

I always think of my family when I feel sorry for myself. They are my fortress and my tower of strength. They are the most caring, loving, people I know.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

I mentioned that I was in the military above. I served from 1959-1962. That was many years ago, but I still have memories of the good, and the bad days.

I am telling you today about my second book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life. It reaches out to those veterans who may be suffering from PTSD, war wounds, or depression. I share stories about my life while in, and share thoughts on how to survive in this not so friendly world.

I hope you will check it out. Especially if you are a veteran, or know somebody that is.

Go to www.dougbolton.com to check it out.

___________________________________________________________________________________

How are you doing today? Getting ready for a cane or walker? I hear you. We need to know that it isn’t the end of the world when that happens. Here are some thoughts on that:

  1. Storms come, but they end.
  2. Be thankful for each day.
  3. Love your family every minute.
  4. Lean on some body close, when you need help.
  5. Getting older isn’t for sissies.

That last one was to make you smile. Aging has its bad moments, but in general it is a blessing. I feel that my children respect me for all the years I have been in this hotel called earth.

We Get Excited When the Weekend Comes. Are You Too Stressed to Enjoy it?

Today is my 301’st blog post. I was much higher at one time but my computer went out on me and I lost everything. I had to start over.

Today is Friday, which means that tomorrow is the weekend. Whoopi for those who are still working, but for us retired folks it is just another day.

I remember the excitement of an upcoming weekend. Enjoying my time with my wife and children. Doing fun things.

______________________________________________________________________________________

With the stressful times we have now, just how much time do you have with your family on the weekends? It is pretty hectic most of the time.

______________________________________________________________________________________

Here is what I would do if I was still working:

  1. Put family first. They are far more important than anything else.
  2. Don’t feel guilty if you don’t get something done that you wanted to get done. It will still be there tomorrow.
  3. Always reach out to your family and be positive for them every day.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

How about your spiritual life. Do you done things one way during the week and another way for church?

We all need to be consistent and worship with other Christians. I know it is sometimes hard to submit to God, and realize He is your authority. He is a very loving God, and when you obey Him He takes very good care of you. He made you on His own image.

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

A friend saw the title of this post on a T-shirt. I think I want one.

My Pastor started a new series this Sunday called, the end times. I thought, this could depressing. I was totally wrong.

The end times will end up being a wonderful time if you are a Christian. Think on this:

Everyone who believes will be pulled up into heaven all at once during the rapture. There will be no pain or agony during this moment.

Grace came to you through Jesus dying on the cross. It will come again during the rapture.

____________________________________________________________________________________

If you are not sure if you will be sent during the rapture, do the following:

  1. Repent. Ask God to forgive you.
  2. Return to fellowship at your church, there is so much support for you there.
  3. Remember…no matter how old you are, God is not through with you yet.

___________________________________________________________________________________

Jesus came in as the lamb and he will come back as a lion.

___________________________________________________________________________________

Never think you are beyond being accepted during the rapture. God loves you as you are. Just confess your sins and enjoy the ride.

___________________________________________________________________________________

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

We had our home built. It was fun to watch it growling into a beautiful home. That was 22 years ago and we are still here. One thing that I noticed is how much the trees have grown. They were planted as little starts, and now they are 40 feet high.

That reminds me of our life. We are were little starts at one time, and grew up. It is what we grew up into that counts.

______________________________________________________________________________________

You can grow up to be an outstanding citizen who achieved may things, or you can be a drunkard lying in the gutter. Pretty stark comparison, but it happens over and over again.

How do I make sure I am on the right path?

  1. I stay with the truth. God is real, and He is my guide.
  2. I never try to create a new doctrine. the bible is my doctrine.
  3. I could have been that guy drunk in the gutter, but I chose the right path, and I am very proud of the many things I have accomplished.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

How about you? Are you the drunkard, or do you like where you are at? If you do not like where you are at, it is never too late to change. God is always eager to open up to you. He will guide you the rest of the way.

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

Do you ever get tired of the daily frustrations? I sure do. Wouldn’t life be great if we could wear rose colored glasses?

It seems like we face more walls than clear paths. Everything seems to be a struggle.

Now that I have torn you down terribly, let me share how I make it through each day to fight all of the above:

  1. Never let day get to you. Each day has it ups and down. Go with the flow.
  2. Go for walks every day. That seems to clear my mind, and gives me fresh air.
  3. Sit down and read a book. The Bible is a good one to read.
  4. Remember, God is with you always. He walks with you on your walks. He speaks to you through the Bible. He guides you on your paths.

_____________________________________________

I try to be upbeat all the time. Yes, it is hard sometimes, but when you are always upbeat it rubs off on others.

It is much easier to smile than to try to have a frown all day.

______________________________________________

Face your storms head on. Never back down.

The thought for the day.

I can truthfully say that I am over COVID. I can say I am 95% better. I just have bouts with fatigue now and then.

It was a huge struggle. It took almost the whole month of July to get over it.

_____________________________________________

My last post I talked about bitterness. How it can ruin our lives. Well, I have some thoughts on other demons that can destroy us. Let’s compare them to what we should be like:

  1. Bitterness-happiness
  2. angry-joyful
  3. Sad-thankful
  4. disappointed-glad
  5. bad self image-love yourself
  6. Lost-found

______________________________________________

This list can go on and you can add to it if you want. But, you can see we have choices in our lives. We can either self-destruct or give praises.

Which choice to see for yourself above?

If you can’t choice the second choice on all of them, take inventory and see why. Ask God to help you through your storms and hurts. He is there for you 24/7.

_______________________________________________

Another thought for today:

Take the im off of impossible and everything is possible.

_______________________________________________

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

Some Have Been Betrayed, and are Bitter Because of it

Some of you have been betrayed, and you feel bitter. You aren’t alone. I have been there myself. You think you are a victim. We want to know how we can get justice. We live with resentment, which is recalling the event.

_____________________________________________

Don’t sit there and lick your wounds. Get up and praise God for the day!

  1. Make sure that no one misses your grace.
  2. Make sure no bitter roots spring up.
  3. Make sure that no one is immoral, or worshiping other gods.

We have to be careful, because the seeds of bitterness makes us by-pass the cross. The seed of bitterness hurts us. Bitterness harbors hostility. There is devastation with bitterness.

People who are bitter:

  1. Are very sensitive.
  2. Have no gratitude.
  3. Harshly criticizes others.
  4. Hold grudges.
  5. Have mood swings.

So how do we get rid of bitterness?

  1. Repent and confess before God. Open your heart.
  2. Focus on God’s grace towards you.
  3. Replace your bitterness with the pursuit of holiness.

____________________________________________

Final thought:

Death’s power over me is as dead as my sin.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!
